"Lag", or "Latency", is the event where the game slows down in Stranded On Earth: The First Strike.
NOTE: Lag has gone under a large reduction in the game. Wonder Weapons barely cause lag anymore, and most of the explosions for laggy weapons have been removed, except for explosive launchers.
NOTE: ROBLOX UPDATED EXPLOSIONS AND ADDED SMOKE, WHICH CAUSES A LOT OF LAG FOR LOW END GRAPHICS CARDS. SPAMMING ANY WEAPON THAT LEAVES AN EXPLOSION, SUCH AS THE RPG-7 OR PTRS-41, MAY BE SUBJECTED TO PUNISHMENT. EXPLOSIONS CAUSE LAG IN ALL 3 FORMS BELOW. IF SOMEONE ASKS YOU TO STOP USING AN EXPLOSIVE AND YOU KEEP USING IT, YOU WILL BE SEVERELY PUNISHED.
Note 2: If you say you do not care if someone is lagging or act like you don't care about others who are lagging, you will be put on the list for being apathetic towards other people who probably can't afford to have a better computer.
There are two types of Lag: Client-Side and Server-Side.
Lag that only you experience, usually just applies to your Frames Per Second (FPS). The new Flame effects apply to this lag as well as Server-Side. The only ways to combat this lag is to lower your Graphics Setting to 1, or use a computer with better specifications. Client-Side Lag is mostly related to your CPU and GPU. If those parts aren't efficient enough, you will commonly get FPS Lag. (Where it appears you're moving slower, the motion is slower and possibly skips frames.)
This type of Lag is experienced by EVERYONE in the server unless they have the best darn Optic Fiber Internet their ISP can offer. Examples of Server-Side lag are: Disconnections, Guns Slowing Down, Zombies Moving Slower than Usual, and the GUI slowing down. Server-Side Lag cannot be controlled. It's affected by your Ping. (Incoming and Outgoing data) and other aspects, such as your Internet's speed and data transfer capabilities. If you want to solve this, the only option is to go to your Internet Service Provider and increase the speed and data transfer options. (Download, Upload, etc.) This, of course, will cost you more money. A good ethernet connection may help due to the stability over Wi-Fi.
CSG: Constructive Solid Geometry, or CSG, is essentially a type of Soft-Modeling. SoE: TFS uses a lot of CSG, and until Roblox uses Cloud-Streaming for it, the game will load slowly and may be more prone to lag. You may be asking,"What guns are affected by CSG?", and the answer is simple: Almost all of the guns in SoE: TFS are affected by it because CSG was used in their creation. A gun that isn't really affected by the CSG Lag is the AWP Sniper, due to it's bolt-action. Note: Roblox is pushing out a CSG Cloud-Steam update within the next few months, which will fix the slow loading for CSG and possibly end the CSG Lag.
NOTE: Anyone who is found guilty for spamming weapons that cause lag, especially when people ask them not to spam those weapons, shall be punished. The weapons listed in italics are the ones that certainly apply to this rule. All Wonder Weapons apply by default. See Spam for a better on idea on what exactly counts as spam.
Objects That Lag The Server Greatly (For Various Reasons) [Italics=Spamming Against The Rules]:
- Raygun - (Higher Brick Count, which causes lag. Raygun counts as a wonder weapon.)
- GES-BioRifle - (The Goop is in a large area, flames, etc. cause lag.)
- Yellow-12 - (Nobody knows for sure, possibly the sound.)
- Devil's Shotgun - (Sound? People claim to have crashed servers with this gun very easily.)
- RPG-7 - (Explosions.)
- M202 FLASH - (Explosions.. and fire...and the random objects created when it hits...)
- Devil's Launcher - (EXPLOSIONS....)
- Shadowfire STORM - (Flames, Large explosions, giant flaming meteorites FLYING THROUGH THE AIR)
- Dubstep Gun - (Audio, Projectiles)
- C4 - (Lots of Explosions.)
- Lumbermill - (Blocks?, Sound?)
Objects Affected By Lag:
ALL GUNS, WEAPONS, TOOLS, ETC APPLY. Even in lower scales, the lag is still there.

Ping could be a huge cause of lag in the ROBLOX servers, due to the variety of ping. Some people have slow and high ping, others have fast and low ping. It's all related to your location and your distance from the ROBLOX Server Host. The farther you are, the higher the Ping.
Theory: When people with good ping are together in a server, everything is fast and okay. When someone with poor ping joins, the lag immediately takes place and things slow down. As soon as that person leaves, within minutes the lag dissipates. This means that some server-side lag could be caused by other people's poor internet speed. "GOOD" Ping is anything below 40~50ms. For example, BarakkuOni's ping is 8ms, so he is within the good range of 0~50ms. The lower the number, the better.
A pingtest is recommended to check what your ping is. Anything lower than B might be too little for SoE: TFS to be played efficiently IF this Ping theory is correct. So far, it has been quite correct.
Having a lower jitter and packet loss is also key to having a good connection.
Note: If your result is lower than an A score while Packet Loss is properly scanned, your internet connection will not be good enough to play the game and WILL slow down the server for everyone else.

SPEEDTEST EXAMPLE (OUTDATED):
There is an entire page dedicated to Lag Fixes. You can find it here.
- There are different forms that Lag come in
- A lot of guns in the game cause lag
- A lot of the guns in the game are affected by the CSG Lag.
- Client-Side is usually directed at hardware.
- Server-Side is usually directed at Internet and/or Roblox's servers.
- CSG Lag is directed at the models, how the models were made. They were obviously used using Constructive Solid Geometry because it looks better and cleaner.
