For it's very low cost, it's very well balanced and reliable, however it is slightly outclassed by the P226 in terms of versatility due to the fact that it lacks a flashlight attachment.
Lore
The M1911 was originally designed by John Browning and manufactured by Colt Manufacturing Company in 1911, thus it's name. Since it's inception in 1911, the M1911 design has been widely used, spawning many modern handguns that use a similar designed based on the original M1911 models, such as the SIG P226, Browing Hi-Power, and many others. As such, it is one of the most, if not the most revolutionary handgun in the history of firearms. It is chambered in .45 ACP ammunition.
In Stranded on Earth: The First Strike, the M1911 was widely used by civilians before the apocalypse due to it's phasing out in favor of the P226 by police and military organizations, after which it was a common sight in household safes, kept away awaiting the day they would be needed to defend the families of their owners.
